TOP 10
Idaho 8 Man Top 10 ... to end 2017
01
Prairie
An early loss to Genesee had the Pirates off a lot of people's radars, but Ryan Hasselstrom's group was no fluke. Played great down the stretch.
02
Genesee
The Bulldogs were the best team on the field every game in 2017 ... except for one. Head coach Tim Sperber has his QB and two all-conference OLs back in '18.
03
Carey
Carey just keeps on winning. Lane Kirkland and that community just produce good teams year-in, year-out. They've got another title trophy, too.
04
Oakley
Kade Craner's squad was battling injuries all season and still had a good chance to reach the 1A Division 1 state championship game in '17.
05
Tri-Valley
The Titans were a very senior-heavy team, very big (physically), and nearly won the program's first state title.
06
Deary
Jalen Kirk could easily be the state's top 8-man football player, but you wouldn't know from his stats because Deary played so many one-sided games.
07
Butte County
Head coach Sam Thorngren has one of the state's top players - Keyan Cummins - for two more years. A move up to Division 1 is on deck for the Pirates.
08
Challis
TT Cain's team proved it belonged in '17. Led by QB Ross Shepheard, the Vikings have a good group coming back next season, too.
09
Grace
Consider this - the Grizzlies were basically one play away from going to the 1A Division 1 playoffs, more or less instead of Challis.
10
Kendrick
QB Jerry Gorbett had another productive season under head coach Zane Hobart, whose team was toe-to-toe with Deary in the White Star League.
