The postseason technically begins for Districts 4, 5 and 6 next week and there are still plenty of questions to be answered. You can view the playoff bracket here, courtesy of IdahoSports.com. Here's a look at some of the possibilities in 1A Division 2.
District 1-2: 2 teams (quarterfinals)
If the Season Ended Today: Kendrick, Deary
In the Mix: Clark Fork
Kendrick has the inside track to seed 1-2A after its win over Deary on Friday. The Mustangs travel north this week for a game at Clark Fork, a contest that should decide seed 1-2B. A Deary win … and it’s another season of Kendrick/Deary representing the panhandle in the 1A Division 2 playoffs. If Clark Fork wins, the Wampus Cats could finish no worse than tied in league play with Deary at 4-2 and would have the head-to-head tiebreaker, which means Clark Fork would be seed 1-2B.
District 3: 2 teams (quarterfinals)
If the Season Ended Today: Salmon River, Garden Valley
In the Mix: Tri-Valley, Horseshoe Bend
Salmon River is in good shape at this point. Garden Valley, as it stands today, would be seed 3B based on its head-to-head win over Tri-Valley. But Tri-Valley plays Salmon River this week. A Titan win … Tri-Valley beat Salmon River, who beat Garden Valley, who beat Tri-Valley. Three teams, two spots. Horseshoe Bend is alive, mathematically, but needs to win out and get some help. Pretty much the same spot the Mustangs were in at this point last year in the 1A Division 1 Western Idaho Conference … where they won out, got some help and reached the playoffs.
District 4: 5 teams (first round)
If the Season Ended Today: Carey, Lighthouse Christian, Murtaugh, Dietrich, Camas County
Carey and Lighthouse Christian have clinched the top two seeds out of District IV. Five teams get in, so plenty of dust to settle, though it appears the teams are set. Murtaugh has a head-to-head win over Dietrich, which would give the Red Devils seed 4C if it can beat Hagerman on Friday. Hagerman and Camas County could potentially each end up 3-4 in league play, but Camas County won the head-to-head battle, which would send the Mushers to face top-ranked Carey in the first round.
District 5-6: 3 teams (first round)
If the Season Ended Today: North Gem, Mackay, TBD
In the Mix: Rockland, Clark-Watersprings
North Gem is in. They’ve locked up seed 5-6A and will host a game on October 27 or 28 against seed 4D from the Magic Valley. Mackay has locked up seed 5-6B will also host a game that weekend against seed 4C from the Magic Valley. The third seed, which would travel to Lighthouse Christian out of District IV for the first round, will be the winner of Friday’s Rockland/Clark-Watersprings game. That game will be played at Watersprings.
