Butte County sophomore named Conference Player of the Year

Sophomore Keyan Cummins of Butte County was named the 1A Division 2 Sawtooth East Player of the Year in a vote of the conference's coaches.
Cummins earned first-team nods at both running back and linebacker along with his Player of the Year award. His head coach, Sam Thorngren, was selected as the conference's Coach of the Year.
Kyson Poletti, who attends Watersprings and played for Watersprings/Clark-County's co-operative team, was voted the Sawtooth West Offensive Player of the Year and Rodney Parrish of Rockland was voted the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
In ten games, Cummins rushed for 1,321 yards and 20 scores on offense while collecting 123 tackles - including a season-high 17 in the team's season-ending semifinal loss at Tri-Valley - on defense. He rushed for at least 235 yards in a game three times and scored at least three touchdowns in five different games.
Butte County led the conference with eight different players being voted onto the league's first or second team. Watersprings/Clark County was close behind with six players.
