1A Div. 2 Long Pin announces All-Conference honorees

Chip Mitchell, Collin Kindall, Darell Linstrom, and Canyon Harper headlined a long list of honorees from the Long Pin Conference this week as the 1A Division 2 league handed out its end-of-season awards.

Mitchell (MVP) and Kindall (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) represented state finalist Tri-Valley while Harper (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) came from Salmon River and Linstrom (Offensive Player of the Year) represented Garden Valley.

Those four players - and those three three teams - dominated the Long Pin this season. In all, over 50 names were listed on either the first or second team, many of them multiple times. Kindall and Salmon River's Devan Branstetter each earned three All-Conference honors from its coaches. All but four of the players listed came from either Tri-Valley, Garden Valley, or Salmon River, which combined to go 22-6 during the regular season with three of its six losses coming to each other. Impressively, the trio went a combined 13-1 against 1A Division 1 foes.

Tri-Valley's Bob Johnson was selected as the conference's Coach of the Year.

Cascade was represented by four players and Council, which was unable to complete its season at the varsity level due to a lack of healthy players, was not represented.
