A story relayed to us over the weekend by Mullan head coach Stetson Spooner.
Spooner's Tiger squad is low on numbers this season and were facing the powerful Deary Mustangs - who are not (relatively-speaking) low on numbers.
Spooner said there were points during the hot afternoon in north Idaho where he was forced to play with seven and, briefly, six players due to cramping and mild injuries.
How did the visiting Mustangs, coached by Darrah Eggers, respond?
"When we had seven, they put seven out there and, when we had six, they had six," Spooner said. "When we got eight back out there, they brought their kids back out."
There isn't a specific rule that required Eggers to pull players off the field to match the number of players Mullan had on the field.
"First-class all the way," Spooner said. "Can't say it enough."
Deary (2-0) won the game by a final score of 76-28.
