It was a day for the record books in Carey on Friday.

The Panthers defeated North Gem, 46-6, and senior quarterback Houston Hennefer established a new school record with 411 yards passing in the win.

He topped the previous record by 25 yards. The school's previous high-water mark for passing yards in a game was 386 by Tyler Cook in 2005.

"We weren't expecting to pass that much," KIrkland told Idaho 8 Man. "But that's the way the game took us and what they gave us, and our receivers did a remarkable job catching the ball."

Hennefer completed 24 of 38 passes in the game and tossed five touchdown passes. Six different players caught passes and three different players caught scoring tosses.

The top target was fellow senior Kaden Koudelka, with 11 receptions for 182 yards and two scores. Porter Mecham had five catches for 93 yards and two scores as well.

The Panthers travel to Fairfield on Friday afternoon to face Camas County.
